Ingredients:
- 1 Orange
- 1/4 to 1/2 Cup Sugar (Granulated)*
- 1/4 Cup Water
- 1 Pint Fresh Strawberries
- 4 Ounces Rum, Optional (Did not use)
- Ice
- Whipped Cream, Optional
Procedure:
- Remove the zest of the orange using a vegetable peeler or a grater
- In a small saucepan over medium heat, simmer the sugar, water and orange zest
- Remove from heat and allow to cool to room temperature
- Strain the syrup to remove orange zest
- Reserve 2-3 strawberries for garnish (depending on glass size), hull the remaining strawberries and roughly cut them into pieces
- Add the strawberries with the juice of the orange to a blender and fill with ice
- Add the cooled orange syrup and blend until smooth
- Add the rum, if using, and blend
- Pour into glasses and garnish with reserved strawberries
- Top with whipped cream, if desired. Enjoy!
*I used about 1/2 cup of sugar because I love sugar, but you can use as much or as little as you would like.
